Coral Springs FL – 09/27/2024 : On Thursday, for the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks, thieves have targeted the same location of outdoor mail boxes used by the corporate condominium owners on 44th Street in the Coral Springs Corporate park.
They did not use crow bars, or hammers – instead they simply pulled up in their Lexus, used what appeares to be a master key and opened up the boxes. The passenger in the car simply hopped out, opened the box and swept the main in a simply bag hanging from their shoulder.
This was the second time they did this. The first time was at 1:54 am on September 16. The Motion sensor on a camera was tripped but no video was recorded of the theft.
However this time at and this time, one of the condominium owners had a Blink camera focused on the box. The camera was tripped by its motion sensor and took a video of one of the thieves.
Members of the association have made it clear that no one from the US Postal Service has contacted them regarding this incident, even though they reported it at the first instance. They obviously are not taking this issue seriously, even though quite possibly this location in Coral Springs is not the only one.
The theft of mail is a serious offense with a maximum of 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Obviously not enough to act as a deterrent to stop a thief.
