Jerome Ronnie Jones, 22 of Coral Springs, and Aubrey Twain Courtney, 27, were arrested for armed robbery by Coral Springs police after witnesses said the two robbers walked in the Regions Bank at 2425 University Dr. at around 10:15 a.m. and ordered everyone to the ground at gunpoint.  Both suspects jumped the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller drawers.

The two then fled the bank in a silver Nissan Ultima and drove to the Coral Falls apartment complex at the 2800 block of NW 91st Ave where witnesses told officers that the pair got out of the Ultima and into a silver Chevy TrailBlazer.  Officers saw the two change cars and stopped the TrailBlazer after which the two suspects jumped out and ran.  Both were taken into custody without incident after a short foot chase.

Any policemen will tell you that it is incredibly stupid for anyone to rob a bank for a few reasons. First, banks really do not keep that much money in their cashier drawers, and second, almost 99.999% of bank robbers get caught and third, you are guaranteed to do ten years minimum, and if you pulled gun out, that can increase to a lot more.

This location was a target in at least 3 other bank robberies since its opening as Capital Bank in 1995.  Union Planters Bank had purchased Capital Bank in 1997.  It was sold to Regions Bank in 2004.  Last year Citibank up the street and also on University Drive was robbed as well.

No one in the bank was injured in the robbery and all of the money that they had taken was recovered.
